Minimum Wage Increase Closes Bookstore
The Sacramento Bee tells us of a bookstore in Roseville that ahd to close because of the latest minimum wage increase. Oddly enough, becaause of a profit sharing plan, employees made more moeny before the wage increase.
You can bet we'll be seeing more of this sort of thing.

Yes, we'll be seeing more struggling business owners blaming the minimum wage instead of their own business practices. Hell, this one is actually a bookstore! Next we'll hear how a newspaper had to close, and a video store had to close, and my favorite store, Typewriters R Us had to close.
I mean, look at the photo in the article! The bookstore owner has no idea what inventory management is. Buying twice as many books as you can sell is, well, stupid. Stacks of books block every bookshelf in the photo.
The bookstore owner must be STUPID, she's only been in business
25 years......what does she know.
The reality of "Cause and Effect" is not a concept liberalism wishes to deal with.Common sense is another.
The photo tells all. Try clicking the link.
It is true that businesses that have been in operation for many years fail for bad business practices. Are you disputing this? If so, there's a laundry list of examples to put you to shame,.
It may be true that businesses fail for various reasons but forcing them to pay wages they might not be able to afford simply adds insult to injury.
Just as bad as the idiots who claim they can't stay in business because of the expense of accommodating people with disabilities. If they're competent, they'll figure it out.
Why don't the impoverished country,'s raise minimum wage?
Well, why do so many people want to work for someone else?
Answer: They can't or WON'T work for themself because, just like a struggling business, they will struggle.
The only difference is that blame is easy to go around for unemployment.
Imagine the american laborer "actually wanting to work for a living", as opposed to being paid merely for being employed, and if employed, the attitude is "more must be done to give employees more.....
Like paid leave to procreate.....like a prostitute gets paid to fuck, the employee is getting paid for fucking to procreate.
No maternity leave should be "paid for", period! Having children is a personal decision, not a business liability.
Yes, raise prices until the consumer shuts you down.......um, wrong, costs control all economics, period!
Maybe because only Mexico sends over its illegals to send back US dollars after under the table employment.
If ya cant import the US Dollar, then a poor country stays poor.
Or, a poor country is rich, depends on how ya look at economics and industrialization.
Less is more!

It is really very strange... because... if the employees were making MORE before the new rule... the owner should not have to go out of business because theoretically she'd be paying less to the employees by law... and since they were already making MORE even if she chose to make up the difference to them, she'd still be at the break-even point.
So to use the new law on simple cost basis as an excuse, shows that it is an excuse... like the toy store who closed in the mall before walmart opened claimed "we can't compete with walmart". But walmart wasn't open, so who knew whether they would or not. Same deal... something comes along a business owner (usually long term) can't deal with and they use it as an excuse to go out.
