City Journal On The TSA

The City Journal has an  informative article on the Transportation Security Agency- the guys that screen passengers at the airport. Not sure if it would surprise younger folk to know we didn't always have a TSA. It was one of those agencies formed in the post 9/11 panic. There's plenty of blame to go around, as the article explains:

"Even by Washington standards, the creation of the TSA was a blunder of colossal proportions."

Believe it or not in the early 1970s you could get on an airplane without any security check whatsoever (metal detetctor/X-ray). Times have changed!

I've been told, but don't have that personal experience, that back in the day you could take your shotgun aboard the plane and store it in the overhead luggage.
