I'm a Libertarian living in Humboldt County, CA. I've lived here in Eureka since 1973 and joined the Libertarian Party in 1992. Remember the Cuban Missile Crisis. I do and remember going through the nuclear attack drills in elementary school, although I had no real understanding of the reasons for them. Here's a more detailed version of the Cuban Missile Crisis with some things I hadn't read before.

I remember the drills, too. But at my school (in Castro Valley) they started around 1959, three years before the Cuban crisis of Oct 1962.
I can't remember how often we did those drills, but I had them down. Get down on your knees and get below your desk, putting your hands over the back of your head. Not sure how much that would have helped but we were pretty good at executing the drills.
