Fortuna Joins The Nanny State

Keim TV's online survey today asks whether you think e- cigarettes are as dangerous as regular cigarettes. That question being pertinent because the station had a segment yesterday night on the City of Fortuna and e- cigs. I already cast my No vote.

The news segment was about Fortuna adding e- cigs to their no smoking ordinances. So, wherever you can't smoke cigarettes, e- cigs are out, too. They even showed the Mayor of Fortuna telling how great their city council is because they care. What a bunch of crap.

I've probably wrote here before I don't know how Fortuna came up with that silly "Friendly City" thing. I worked some places down there years ago and didn't find it that friendly at all. Just a bunch of back- biting people that seemed like something out of that movie Children of the Corn

Now Fortuna jumps completely into the role of nanny state. Despite my feelings about Fortuna, I'm  disappointed. I'd expect this sort of thing from Arcata or Eureka. Not Fortuna. Despite my feelings, I still felt Fortuna should have a fair number of people with common sense living in it. Apparently not.

I don't know that we have the means to do so, but I've thought it would be nice to move somewhere a little warmer than Eureka. Fortuna came to mind, but no longer. The way they're going, I might as well move to San Francisco.

If you haven't already done so, you'll want to bookmark and visit Dr. Michael Siegel's blog where he dispels the myths about e- cigarettes. Too bad the Fortuna City Council hadn't done so.

Friendly City was the "catch phrase" to dupe old timer ranchers (truly friendly types overall) for the purpose of "progressive principles" being implemented.

Fortuna:

largest Hispanic community in county

Pro business if it is "alternative"

European style road designs increasing

Increased gubbamint social services

Increasing drug culture

Local school system under alt attack

Feel free to add to the list

They did it for the bribe money Fred. Ever hear of the "healthy community" awards? The "american lung association" awards? Big pharma & UN buying up the joint.
Plus they're hoping to make extra bucks with fines.
YOUR article, well said. I wish they would have put people over profit too.

The Royal College of England is the bigwig science college that was used to start the smoking bans. They're heroes to the nanny states. Well, they WERE heroes before they released their study on Ecigs. Now they're worshipped by vapers.
Anytime you need a "study" to prove to marxists why it's okay to vape, this is one of the best ones.

Personally never tried an e-cig.

Pneumonia is fluid in the lungs, would think vapor is building up fluid in lungs.

My pleasure.
Dr. Polosa, Dr. Farsalinos, Dr. Seigel, & so many more have tons of studies that are genuine & helpful.
Dr. Konstantinos Farsalinos has a dedicated to ecig research blog, listing his studies & his "call outs" to the fake studies & medias. Very well informed Scientist! Be sure to read his works when you get a chance. He also has recently published his book about vaping, for other researchers, city officials, legislators, etc, to learn from.
(He's my hero. Whenever anything questionable or exciting comes up, he's right there delving more in to it. If it's questionable, he tells us like it is, then performs even more studies to see what changes we can make. He has zero patience with political fear mongering. He CARES about the health of smokers & vapers).
