CA Ending Daylight Savings?

Great news from Sacramento, if only because there's some sensible legislation being considered for a change. A Democrat, of all things, is proposing ending the adoption of Daylight Savings Time.

The Sacramento Bee article lists some of the reasons this is a good idea. As far as I'm concerned, they can't end it soon enough. I'll be sending a note to our state leigislators asking them to support this bill. The bill is AB2496 if anyone else wants to join me in contacting the powers- that- be over this.

Why do they want to do that?? I happen to love daylight savings time. Why don't they do something constructive like legalize Marijuana!

I hope we keep Daylight Savings Time. It gets light early enough as it is in June. Without Daylight Savings it will be light at 4 AM rather than 5 AM. I'd rather have the extra daylight in the evening rather than the morning.

One of the best parts of summer is being able to do things outside until after 8 or 9 p.m. only dairy ranchers need light at 4 a.m.

Get rid of it. It's an outdated tradition that just throws people off. They only exist to make harvesting a little easier with daylight. You can harvest at 3am now with lighting and GPS. If you farm at all. It will take less than a year for your body to adjust and your brain to get used to the "Spring forward, Fall back" thing. If a line has to be drawn, because the sun is higher or lower at some point on the planet twice a day, draw the hourly designations lines along longitude, not state lines, or west and east of something that's half an hour ahead or some other oddball thing like Indiana.

When is the vote? End daylight savings time. With the sun down when it is hottest it will save on electricity bills.
