Supervisor Geist Vulnerable?

That's what past 5th District supervisorial candidate, Ben Shepherd, says. Being a person- in- the- know, he's better qualified than I am to judge. He mentions a couple other past supervisors; one who was re- elected and one who wasn't, suggesting that Geist's track record is more along the line of the one who wasn't. I think it would make sense to use more than two cases to make such a comparison. He makes a good, although somewhat obvious, point: A candidate who people are familiar with always has an advantage over an unknown. According to Shepherd, although Geist is the incumbent, she's relatively unknown in her district.

Hmm... he mentioned past 5th District Supervisors, Anna Sparks and Eric Hedlund. I remember the names but can't put a face on them.

Isn't Shepherd the guy who owns the feed store in Mckinleyville that Geist beat before?

To be more accurate, Ben's wife, Wendy Wahlund owns A&L Feed.
IMH(anonymous)O, and based on his time at MCSD, Ben is a jerk. Let's hope he learned his lesson in the last election. He is right about Jill's tentative hold on the incumbancy however. Didn't Patrick Higgins anounce that he's running? I'd take him over Jill, who ran as a progressive, but has been spending too much time with Rose Welch since taking office.

Geist is a moderate who hangs out with people across the political spectrum. That's good. The Fifth District is diverse and should be represented by a centrist.

Patrick Riggs is a screaming lunatic. (Literally not just figuratively) What makes Geist a good supervisor is that she won't bend the the extreme "Left" or extreme "Right" - instead she does whats best for the entire community. No wonder the extremists don't like her - she's just too reasonable and won't buy in on their "scorched earth" "winner take all" mentality.

Only one person misspells my name and gets agitated about my having coffee with my friend and neighbor, Jill. That would be "R. Trent" Anonymous.
