New City Boss For Arcata

So Arcata finally identifies their new City Manager. There must be something wrong with him. Why anybody would move from Colorado to California, much less Arcata, is beyond me.

I was thinking the EXACT same thing!

From the T-S: "Hackett,... said he's always loved the Arcata area and promised his wife years ago that he'd apply if the job ever opened up."

He's been waiting YEARS to move to ARCATA?

Something is definitely wrong. And I'm not bashing Arcata; I would say that if he was moving anywhere in HumCo.

So, he'll have a clean slate in Arcata. I can understand him wanting to move to Arcata to be near his family. I feel bad that the wingnuts will most assurely be on his case the second he officially takes office. Maybe he'll be more open to business interests than hauser was, maybe he'll break up the local business cartell in Arcata. Then again, unlike most cities Arcata seems to fighting tooth and nail to keep from growing economically.

Nice of the city to offer 'assistance' to purchase a home to an employee who will be in the top 5% of wage earners. Only can pay up to $400,000 though. Looks like he won't be on Diamond Drive or CA Street. He may want to move back after a few days of house hunting around here.

Hey, give the guy a break. Why wouldn't he want to live here? Our little corner of the country is a great place to live. We have such natural beauty all around us every day form the mountains to the oceans to the rivers. Humboldt County Rocks! Let's appreciate it and welcome him. Thanks!
