Salzman Targets Eureka PD
Now that Richard Salzman and company has succeeded in screwing up the District Attorney's office for another four years, as I suspected would happen, his sights are now set on another target.
The latest from Richard's mailing list asks everyone to "lobby" (my word) the Eureka City Manager to select a progressive police chief, now that the City has started their search for a replacement for retired Chief, Dave Douglas.
Here's his marching orders to the minions:

local control is just a convenient phrase to sway the masses. Like "Fraud is not a victimless crime."
NOTHING Salzman says is true, and he is inherently more honest than Gallegos.
He has nothing vested in this community. He does not own property. He is not married. He has no kids. He has no business here.
His only stock in trade is vicious divisive dishonest campaigning. KMUD is his mouthpiece.
He will continue to have his control as long as good people stand by and either look the other way or say nothing.
so I guess your voice is worthless if you have no kid, are not married, don't own a business and don't own property... sounds like a few people on this blog...
add to that you are a proven liar, using the media to manipulate the public, starting up little groups to make it look like you are bigger than you are, and posting stickers on parking meters to make it look like there is a grassroots movement afoot.
I own property, I am married, and I have two kids. All Salzman did is provide the link to the city's survey form. It's not binding - they just want feedback. I put the link on my blog as well, and now Fred's put it on his.
I won't be submitting a survey because I'm not a Eureka resident. But as long as the city is asking, what's wrong with getting the word out?

Point well made. Here's the Webster's definition of "minion":
1 : a servile dependent, follower, or underling
2 : one highly favored : IDOL
3 : a subordinate or petty official
Not that I'm one to beat myself over the head over definitions, but followers, underlings, or subordinates seems like it might apply to members of a mailing list.

Oh give me a break 8:51 - Tyson WORKS for Eureka and you can't compare that with Salzman who does nothing but bleed money from people over the internet and keep this community in a constant state of divisiveness. Why? because when people come together they make concessions to get along and the "regressives" and nutjobs like Salzman et al don't want people talking and making concesssions at all - they want it just their way. So they beat the drums and print their lies to misinform and then they can "control" public opinion for a short time for their misguided causes. If Eurekan's want that fine. If they don't then they better say say something now!

But will respectfully keep my opinions to myself, seeing as I live in Sunmnybrae, and would have to move to some big city and get a shitty job with a long commute if people weren't allowed to grow, smoke, and share cannabis here in Humboldt county.
Ultimately the people of Eureka will speak on election day. Of course, some decent alternative candidates have to run if they really want to see change happen. FYI most of Eureka's department heads don't live in Eureka. You don't even have to live in Eureka to serve on city boards and commissions. You do have to live in Eureka to run for city council.

Think twice. Voting for change for change's sake is what got you Gallegos. Meth dealers being plea bargained right and left, Child abuse cases being turned away, programs that help the victims being sustematically dismantled, drunk driving charges being reduced to wet recklesses, the loss of experienced prosecutors... the hiring of idiots like yougofree.com Schwartz, the DA's office turned against the cops, officers on the street discouraged beyond belief....
Humboldt County got what it voted for, and the semas that were frayed will soon disintegrate altogether.
Eureka has a choice, elect "progressives" and go the way of the DAs office, or stand up and say NO to Salzman and his mindless minions.
Kerrigan/Salzman wants you to vote in some people that think like they do, so nothing will stand in their way..
Well, maybe you'll save alot of money because you won't need a police force anymore. Just a couple of cops to bust business people who dare to achieve a measure of success.

I have worked with Richard and heard him told "no" many times. He is brilliant and bullheaded and to be admired. He can be collaborative as well as pushy. He is passionate about his country and community. He is part of, but not at the top of, the large community (thank God) of open-minded patriots who live and work in Humboldt County. Mindless minions? Hardly.

News to me, but I was told he was some kind of art broker. I assumed that was the kind of thing one could do in a home office.
That would explain why he spends so much time in Eureka, though.
Salzman does not work in Eureka. If he works at all, it is only as a political operative. Who pays him, that is the question.
Where'd he go to school? What qualification does he have to pontificate and direct all the happenings in the County?
What happened to independent thinking, Chirs Kerrigan? Bonnie Neely? Do you care so much about getting elected that you will listen to a high school drop out?
Well, he pulled of an upset electoral win over a well-entrenched incumbant, and crushed a well-financed recall attempt - probably altering the course of Humboldt County politics for years to come.
Whatever else you say about him, THAT's what qualifications he has to pontificate about local politics.

Yes I am on his list, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't "obey" if he put out an action request along the lines of something I agreed with.
I actually never signed up with his list. I just started receiving his e-mails. I figured he probably acquired the e-mail addresses from some other lefty e-mail list, like the Redwood Peace and Justice Center list I subscribe to, and built his list from that.
No problem with that. Nice to know what people are up to.
