Arkley's Fined by FPPC
Looks like Rob and Cherie Arkley are being fined for some reporting errors with regards to some political contributions they made. One of those contributions being $12,000 given to the Friends of Paul Gallegos a couple years ago.
Probably one more reason they're likely sorry to have contributed to Paul Gallegos. If only Measure T would have been in force back then, this might not have happened!

Get ready for all the anti-Arkley posts.

Hey, I'm just trying to stir the pot a little. Not that it needs stirring.
oh, it needs stirring.
on the same note didn't Gallegos and his campaign manager get spanked in the same manner ?
get spanked
Oh, dear, now you're gonna hear from all the S&M folks.
The Arkley's gave $250,000 to Citizens to Save California. From Election Law:
"The so-called Citizens to Save California (CSC), a committee created and staffed by Schwarzenegger operatives to pursue the Governor's ballot agenda, has violated the limit on candidate-controlled committees with at least nineteen donations."
"'Governor Schwarzenegger is breaking the law in an attempt to unduly influence the California initiative process with fat cat cash and he needs to be stopped now,' said Derek Cressman, Director of TheRestofUs.org."
"The day after TheRestofus.org filed with the FPPC, Citizens to Save California sued to overturn the very law that the committee and the governor are violating. ‘The Governor's lawyers opposed this rule when it was passed and they're now opposing it in court.’"
Can't Arkley give more locals a little lovin in the form of campaign contributions? Only Gallegos? What about kickin some down to Jeff Leonard so he can get new signs!
I have no doubt that Arkley is giving plenty to various campaigns, but he is good at hiding the money. Nancy Flemming's art auction, for example, was a completely legal (and not-uncommon) kind of contribution-laundering event. If the contributor is getting something of fair value in exchange for their money, then it is not considered a 'donation,' and need not be reported. If the amount of the donation exceeds the value of the item purchased, then the excess amount is considered a gift, and must be reported. However, the value of artwork is very subjective, particularly at auction, so it it is a very easy way to make large donations without having to report anything.
You can tell they are a “Humboldt Progressive Liberal” (HPL): If they still have a stop the recall of Paul Gallegos sticker on their VW.
You can tell they are a (HPL): If they say they hate Robin Arkley, but they have no Idea who he is.
You can tell they are a (HPL): If they are on some type of Social Service.
You can tell they are a (HPL): If they are absolutely against any form of progress.
You can tell they are a (HPL): If they support local small businesses that pay less than a living wage.
You can tell they are a (HPL): Rather put up with an environmental eyesore near the bay, than have private money clean up the area to the letter of the law as mandated by California.
You can tell they are a (HPL): Drive a car that would not pass smog check.
You can tell they are a (HPL): Support carpetbaggers for City Council.
You can tell they are a (HPL): Support the use of Medical Marijuana whether people are sick or not!
You can tell they are a (HPL): Add your own.
Who needs Measure T when you and your Cobbite friends can run a biased Green Party campaign and never file a single form?
You can tell 2:29 is a developer (asshole)
Funny, 2:29, I call myself a Humboldt Progressive Liberal, and not one of your little platitudes fits me.
I have neither a Gallegos bumper sticker, nor a VW.
I know quite a bit about Robin Arkley, and I do not hate him, though I take issue with many (not all) of the things that he says and does.
I am not now, and have never in my life, been on any kind of public assistance, be it welfare, unemployment, social security, or anything else.
I am for well-planned progress, and recognize that not every business opportunity is a step forward.
I support local businesses, and support efforts to increase our local manufacturing base, the highest-paying sector of our local economy.
Every car I own passes smog.
I would not vote for a candidate who does not legally live in, and have a legitimate interest in, the community for which they are running.
I support the law in regards to medical marijuana, but believe that it is being widely abused.
Sorry, but your simple-minded attempt to label and dismiss anyone who holds an opinion different from your own has failed. On the other hand, I would not suggest that your views indicate you must be a developer, or that all developers are a$$holes.
I didn't think he had a simple minded attempt to label and dismiss....just pointing out the same thing as I see when I drive home. Every stop the recall bumper sticker is on a broken down wreck, spewing exhaust with a driver going 80+. Sure, there are lots of folks that don't fit that, but the fact is that the ones who are advertising aren't lending well to your cause.
So much for the "the ER is Arkley's puppet" line of reasoning.
Nearly every pro-Bush sticker I see is on a giant gas-guzzler, but once I did see W04 sticker on an old beater and thought WTF?
BTW Heraldo - you do know that gas-guzling trucks are used to hall hay and feed and tow trailers which many ranchers, farmers and their employees NEED to do their jobs. Since you obviously blog your day away instead of doing manual labor, perhaps it slipped your limited mind.
2:29 you got it wrong, it should go:
If you ever ran for Arcata City Council; You may be a Humboldt Progressive Liberal.
If you ever stopped at the CO-OP and signed a petition you did not read; You may be a Humboldt Progressive Liberal.
Are working on your 9th year of studies at Humboldt; You may be a Humboldt Progressive Liberal.
Smoke like a fiend, but love mother earth; You may be a Humboldt Progressive Liberal.
If you ride a community bike to work; You may be a Humboldt Progressive Liberal.

Let's get back to spanking.
Seems like we have identified many of the posters as Humboldt Progressive Liberals here!
As a strongly self-identified liberal progressive (and less-strongly identified Democrat), I can say that none of the labels listed above apply to me.
Another trait that does not apply to me: The tendendcy of so many right-wingers here to reduce everything down to angry, hate-filled name-calling.
Well, to be fair about it, 7:48, there's a lot of angry, hate- filled name calling from the left side of the aisle here, as well.
I almost seems to me that most of the hate- filled name calling comes from the Left here. But, that's a hard thing to quantify, as most posts are anonymous and it's hard to tell whether it's the same person throwing insults, or two or three people.

Most of those "gas guzzlers" make less smog then a 10 year old econobox.

So good I had to say it twice!
If you use lame words like platitudes; You may be a Humboldt Progressive Liberal.
If, at about the third sentence of every discussion you interject with "Bush lied" or some derogatory statement involving Karl Rove, you are definitely HPL
HPLPOS !
