Where did Fred decide yes or no?

I've already voted No. As I just wrote elsewhere, this is actually one of those glass half empty/ half full things. There's no compelling reason I've heard to vote either way. The exception being that most will prefer to be able to have more of a voice in city council races with more votes under the current system.

I see no compelling need in Eureka for ward only voting and prefer council critters look at the city was a whole, rather than just looking after their ward.

The divisiveness of Measure P also puts me off as proponents seem to want each ward to be fighting with other wards over the city's attention.

Still, no real strong arguments on either side that I've seen, except for people wanting more of a say in council elections under the current system.

A stacked city council, however, never argues over which region of the city gets attention......why?.....Because there is nothing to lose....

HOJ believes if it ain't broke, don't fix it.......BUT Eureka is broken and it started about 50 Years ago when the current rigged system was put into place......so we do know Fred that continuing on with the status quo won't be anything different because voters still have retardation syndrome when it comes to understanding good from evil.....

If it is a glass half this or that, then what you are saying is you have no conviction one way or another......which is the only reason of rationale that is needed to be in favor of "P".

As it is now, areas of the city are shunned, and Jefferson school District residents is a prime example of what occurs with the current status quo......nothing good.

If HOJ was crazy enough to live in Eureka, HOJ would vote Yes on P and allow 50 years or less to prove as being "worthless".

A true ward system is how we elect county supervisors......but then again, the results on the job are grossly terrible, but at least less voters in a districted region versus overall county boundary makes it easier to get rid of.......

Fred,

In a true ward system, you could "vote no" to planting ornamental trees within the street ROW's.......maybe your ward rep is not agreeable to wasting funds in your ward on tree plantings because other needs (not wants) are more important.

Hopefully, HOJ has made an impression of a true ward system's "political values and options to be different than the rest......individuality of regions, areas, district s, etc.....just like county supervisors".
