Space Stuff: Another Near Miss
Earth/ Sky News tells us we had a near miss from an asteroid yesterday. It came within 2/10ths the distance of the moon. Too close for my comfort. Glad I read about it after the fact. I'd be a nervous wreck if I'd known before. The video on the page shows an eclipse of the asteroid. Watch for a minute or so and the asteroid disappears only to reappear a few seconds later. I guess that's when it passes through the Earth's shadow.

NASA has 'Scout,' an early detection system. Unfortunately, Scout only data mines existing data sources for discovered asteroids rather than being a system specifically designed to find asteroids itself. NASA funding is a drop in the national budget bucket, but hey, it's only the planet. Who cares?
Just you wait its coming in your lifetime and not to far from the present you mark my words
