Snow #2

Those Caltrans web cams can show you what it looks like in some places. Top is 101 in Del Norte County just south of Cushing Creek Road. Second is 101 south of Drake Hill Road in Fortuna. Next is 101 just north of Willits and last is Ridgewood Summit between Ukiah and Willits. To bad they don't have a cam on Lord Ellis Summit.

there should be a webcam on Berry summit on the caltrans building at the foot of titlow hill rd. Berry summit is 500ft higher than lord ellis and gets more snow. plus, we could see if the snow plows were in operation or not, since they are stored at the caltrans building. i drive out that way for work quite often and i think it would be handy. much more useful than a webcam at the intersection of hwys 36 and 101...

Ooops! That's what I meant: Berry Summit, not Lord Ellis. Wouldn't be bad to have one on both, though.

I thought they did have one... a friend who drove to redding last weekend said some people showed him what he was driving into... Not sure which it was.. I'll ask.

I don't believe they had one listed on the Caltrans site. They had for 299 over by Valley West looking East.

Those cams are handy when traveling south. This morning the cam for Ridgewood Summit had much snow on the road and it was closed to all traffic.

I know it. It's nice to get a preview of what you might be driving through.

I checked that Ridgewood cam probably four times in one hour and never saw a car on the road. I suspected they might of closed the road, at least for a while.

To see what is going on in Northeast CA you have to ask to see other web cams and then when you see Northeast CA click on view all and it shows a little of 299 out of Redding and I-5 up to Yreka and down to either Red Bluff or Anderson. Looks like they have had a lot of snow in that area.
