That Obama Speech
President Obama gave his farewell speech last night. Believe it or not, I watched. Heck, nothing else on TV. I thought he did a nice job and have always felt him a good public speaker- I'll give credit where credit is due.
I do wonder how some others fared with the speech? I knew Bill, over at Dreaming Up Daily, would be watching as he's idolized Obama from the get- go. No doubt in my mind he was likely bawling his eyes out over the whole thing. But, no evidence of it on his blog. How about the rest of you? Any of you have to run to the store for a new box of Kleenex?
Anyway, that's the end of Obama's presidential activities, but we haven't seen the last of him.

did not watch , didnt want to break brand new tv and didnt want to watch my first odumba speech .
and yes , we havent heard the last of him . if you think he whined about bush , wait till thump starts reversing its executive orders .
Wouldn't listen/watch that guy by choice! His voice is like fingernails on a chalkboard. How many times did he say "I I I" or "Me Me Me"?????
COmpared to the 5th grade level dictator-speak of the cheetohead...It is going to be a long 4 years. How can anyone listen to him and think he is presidential material?
I still remember him speaking at the convention when Gore was the nominee and thinking, OMG why can't we vote for this guy instead? It's been a fantastic 8 years, if you exclude his military actions. Trump receives this country in great shape, an amazing economic turnaround from the damage Bush inflicted (per economic indicators). It's Trump's to mess up. It's telling that the GOP is taking some cues from the Democrats because of what they saw undeniably work under Obama.
Taking fifty-one minutes, he did a great job of thanking himself for the last eight years of his"accomplishments". Mentioned himself only 75 times in the farewell.
As a formerly uninsurable person who now pays for health insurance, I agree Sally, he's helped accomplished much to better society. It's funny that the GOP labeled the ACA as Obamacare because it underscores that, apparently, yes, he really does care about people the GOP doesn't care about. I'm waiting to see how the GOP plans to 'revise' the ACA without the support of the hospital and insurance industry (which both supported the ACA). I expect superficial tweaks at most so that tens of millions of peoples' lives aren't messed with and the GOP can claim a faux victory.
I'll take Obama's real, tangible accomplishments mentioned in his speech, especially the dramatic economic recovery and plummeting unemployment rate after we were devastated by Dubya's Great Recession... compared to Trump's speech today at his press conference where he talked about how great he was, going so far as to directly suggest God favors him.
Like millions of others, I refused to watch his last bullshit campaign speach. Let's hope the 95 million out of unemployment insurance can now look forward to getting back to work. It's going to be tough, fighting the oppressors, but Trump's toughness is why he won the circus.
I didn't vote for him, but I will happily support him when he shows good intentions towards restoring America.
May the power be restored to the people, not the partys'.
