Inspection....ARMS!

Some of you military types might remember that command: Inspection, being the preparatory command and Arms being the command of execution. The command was used during weapons inspections and you had to go through a certain movement to make your weapon ready for inspection.
*******
That's District Attorney's Investigator, Mike Hislop, in the photo. The caption in the hard copy version- not available online- says something about him "checking the clips of SWAT team members...".

What I'm wondering is if D.A. Investigator, Mike Hislop, gave that command before the picture in the
Times- Standard was taken, or, did he just quickly move into camera range to take advantage of the photo op. The photo certainly makes a compelling case for the purchase of AR-15 rifles by the District Attorney's office, doesn't it?

What exactly was Hislop was doing there? Maybe he's part of the Critical Response Team? I don't know. Perfect timing for the photo op, regardless.

Hislop is a loser. He was a loser with EPD and kept at traffic sgt. because was considered a bit "off."

Shame on the TS. The DA's office does follow up investigation for cases submitted to it and does not do first responder stuff. They don't have the jurisdiction to do the first responder stuff. The TS is just rolling over again and shows absolutely no backbone with respect to the out of control DA. Hell, does anyone really feel safe knowing the Paul wants his own special SWAT team. He is not a cop, hasn't been trained for it, hasn't had the psych evals...sounds pretty dangerous to me.

Gallegos is building his own army at our expense. We don't need HumCo to become more militarized, we need less. Real progressives are outraged and typical sell-out liberals can only make lame excuses like always.

1: Fred - this doesn't look like Hislop unless he had some "major" work done on his trip to baja.

2: this is a total photo op by the TS because the DA has absolutely no jurisdiction whatsoever regarding the sheriff's office and their SWAT team. Too bad the TS just prints the drivel the DA and Hislop give them instead of asking questions. Sort of makes you wonder.

Caption in the hard copy T-S says it is, and it looks a bit like him to me.

Well fred maybe - here is a better photo to compare: http://archives.eurekareporter.com/archive/cm-12120301.htm

But the question is really, why the photo op when Hislop isn't on the team, isn't calling any shots and doesn't have the jurisdiction to intervene?

pathetic.

"why the photo op...".

Why, indeed.

Pay your pot tax to the good doctor and his DA, or your ass gets raided by the DA.

Called it a couple days ago, in jest, now, I'm not to sure.

What I think is disturbing about the whole fiasco is these are the guys who investigate themselves. Take for instance the police shootings. Were told they're independent investigations because the DA's independent office is involved along with multiple jurisdictions. It should be apparent that all the long time cops know each other and are friends. I just find it disturbing that the police are allowed such leeway in investigating themselves. The DA's office has a law enforcement unit, so when they say the DA is involved, they're really saying former EPD, APD, FPD or Sheriff are investigating... Am I the only one who finds this disturbing and not exactly credibility inducing?

11:02 New to this area? Haven't you noticed rampant cronyism in most public and many private enterprises? They give it a good sounding name like "family business" or "person appointed was raised in Humboldt county" but it amounts to simply appointing lesser qualified people for positions of authority. Most oldtimers here don't want democracy, they want only THEIR friends and relatives to be in charge.

Sounds like you are talking about David Cobb, Richard Salzman, and the other new to the area clowns.

Fred, there is no compelling (or otherwise) case for the DA's office to have AR-15s.

AR 15s are only "assault weapons" because DiFi and the dipsticks in the AG's office think they are "ugly" and "military" appearing. My legal Mini 14 can do anything an AR15 can do and my 40 round magazines are grandfathered legal. The whole "assault weapon" issue is total bullshit.

Suddenly all the gun loving kooks don't want somebody to arm themselves- the irony...

Hislop is a bad apple,no question. No one at EPD is sorry he's gone. You can take that to the armory.

Born and raised,60 yrs in Humboldt Co. You're right I don't want democracy here. I'm very happy with the great Republic we have and that the mob rule you strive for is kept under check. Just look at the mess you've caused in our DA's office.

Absolutely right Rose, it's like Paul is building his own private army and at public expense. No way are we voting for this guy again, no matter what kind of crap Loco Solutions tries shoving down our throats.
